Criminal Pre-sentence reports

A pre-sentence report is an impartial psychological evaluation that is used to assist the courts in making informed sentencing decisions.

Dr Paul Bowden has been completing pre-sentence reports for more than 10 years and has completed more than a thousand reports during this time. Dr Bowden’s reports are very comprehensive and have been found very useful for sentencing judges.

Dr Bowden will explore the following during the pre-sentence assessment:
• Conduct an interview to gain relevant information about your life, paying particular attention to the time of offending.
• Explore whether you were suffering from any psychological conditions at the time of offending (as this may be a mitigating factor according to case law)
• Gather collateral information to corroborate your history and assist with the report
• Conduct psychological testing including a risk of assessment to assist in determining your risk of reoffending
